Anna Christian Blog: Manx miles in preparation for Yorkshire

Anna Christian

After a few weeks away travelling between Wales and Holland, I’m now back at home on the Isle of Man for some good manx training miles preparing for the next few races. I thought this would be a good time to do an update on what I’ve been up to so far this year.

Over the winter I spent most my time training between South Wales and back home. Early February I headed out to Gran Canaria for a good spell of hard training, and of course some much needed winter sunshine. I loved the riding here and it has already became one of my favourite places to train. The beautiful scenery of the island definitely makes the mountains there a lot easier to climb! Not long after this I was off to another Spanish island, Majorca, to have an early season catch up with all the team.

I kicked of my race season mid April with Wiggle High5 in Holland with the Energiewacht Tour, Omloop Ijsseldelta and Ronde van Gelderland. These definitely got the race legs going with the fast racing and strong crosswinds, just what I had expected for Dutch racing! However although these races are not my favourite type of terrain for racing, it was great to get a number pinned on and start racing again with the team.

Next up for racing I have the Tour of Yorkshire in late April, which I’m really looking forward to. It’s great to see another British women’s race stepping up a level, and hearing the excitement of the other riders racing, I’m sure it won’t disappoint as a great event!
